WATCH: Oliver Leads Three Under Victor Ashe Course Record

Greatest Race Ever?

The name Silas Winders likely doesn't mean much to a middle school runner racing right now but he is a multi-time state champion, two time Foot Locker qualifier, and until last year, had the fastest 5k time in state history at 14:29. So when three runners go under his All-Time Victor Ashe record in a single race it's hard not to use superlative language when describing it. Jackson Oliver capped off his second undefeated season in a row breaking away late from the trio of Caleb Scott, Declan Murphy, and Ryder Chatman finishing in 10:55.39. Scott and Murphy would also run under Winder's course record of 11:01 finishing in 10:59 and 11:00.

This obviously should excite anyone who follows distance running in Tennessee about the depth of talent we have moving forward but what stands out on top of that is the fact that it's not centralized in one place. Oliver and Chatman are in Middle, Scott is in East, and Murphy is in West! Every corner of the state has talent and a lot to look forward to!
