Knoxville Youth Athletics Prepares for Biggest Indoor Season Yet

Knoxville Youth Athletics Prepares for Biggest Indoor Season Yet 12/2/2015 - As Fall Cross Country is viewed in the rear-view mirror, KYA looks ahead to what will be the best Indoor Track season in our history.

The KYA HS Indoor Track Classic slated for January 15-16th 2016 at ETSU. This meet will be the first chance for athletes to qualify for the 2nd Annual TN HS Indoor State Championships (February 27th) which will return to ETSU. Due to scheduling conflicts at Vanderbilt, the state meet will continue at ETSU with hopes to move the meet to the mid-state in 2017 as part of a rotation. This meet will again be in conjunction with the ETSU Track and Field Invitational so young athletes will have a chance to see colleges from all over the southeast compete on the track that will be home to the 2016 NAIA Indoor Collegiate Championships March 3-5th.

The super-competitive Vanderbilt HS Indoor Invitational entering its 3rd year has proven to be one of the toughest meets to get into which makes for one of the most impressive indoor meets you will see! Last year's meet featured 2 US#1 marks and 13 US #10 marks and 20 new meet records so come compete or watch February 6th and see who not only sets new US top 10 marks but also who else can qualify for the TN HS State Indoor Championships!

New for 2016 is the KYA Youth Indoor Invite February 28th at ETSU the day following. This will feature athletes 14-under with a chance to compete on the same track as the High School and College athletes. This meet will fill a gap in the indoor season for youth athletes who otherwise wouldn't be able to compete due the limited amount of meets in the Southeast.

Website and entry information will be up on knoxvilleyouthathletics.org in the coming weeks!
