Mark Reeves Named New Asst. Exec. Director TSSAA Press Release Apr 21, 2008

 With the recent retirement of Mr. Bob Baldridge, and the pending full-retirement of Mr. Gene Beck, Mark Reeves of Springfield was recently hired as a new Assistant Executive Director.  At the March Board of Control meeting, Matthew Gillespie of Murfreesboro was named to the same position.

 The Jason Foundation, Inc. (JFI) is an organization that was founded in 1997 in an effort to fight the terrible problem of youth suicide.  Its mission is to educate teachers/youth workers, parents, and youth in the awareness and prevention of youth suicide through educational programs.  Mr. Clark Flatt, founder of the program, will provide information to the Board regarding The Jason Foundation, Jason’s Law, which is now in effect in Tennessee, and outline a proposal for a partnership with TSSAA.

TEN TO JOIN THE TSSAA HALL OF FAME TSSAA Press Release Jan 17, 2008

The 2008 TSSAA Hall of Fame inductees have been selected.  Ten new members will be inducted into the TSSAA Hall of Fame at the annual luncheon at the James Union Building on the MTSU campus in Murfreesboro on Saturday, March 15.  This is the same day as the Division I boys’ basketball finals, which will be held at Murphy Center on the campus of MTSU as well.

The A.F. Bridges Awards Program announced in the winter issue of the TSSAA News the 27 Divisional Finalists for 2005-06.  Also, the nine schools that won the A.F. Bridges’ State Award of Excellence were recognized.

 

For the fourth consecutive year, the TSSAA Board of Control earmarked $27,000 toward a scholarship fund to recognize one outstanding student athlete from each of the 27 schools that were Divisional Finalist for the A.F. Bridges Awards.  Each school was asked to recognize a person who represents the essence of good sportsmanship and citizenship.  The criteria for this nomination was set by each individual school.
