TEN TO JOIN THE TSSAA HALL OF FAME
AT ANNUAL INDUCTION CEREMONIES MARCH 15

HERMITAGE- - - The 2008 TSSAA Hall of Fame inductees have been selected.  Ten new members will be inducted into the TSSAA Hall of Fame at the annual luncheon at the James Union Building on the MTSU campus in Murfreesboro on Saturday, March 15.  This is the same day as the Division I boys’ basketball finals, which will be held at Murphy Center on the campus of MTSU as well.  

Two administrators, six coaches, and two officials will be inducted that day to join others in the annual gathering of those selected since the process began in 1982.

Those being inducted at this year’s luncheon are:  Joe Hardin, administrator from Pulaski; the late Dan Herron, administrator from Gallatin; Randy Barnes, coach from Union City; Bob Black, coach from Knoxville; Jerry Peters, coach from Memphis; Richard Pickell coach from Lenoir City; Susan Russ, coach from Nashville; Jerry White, coach from Elizabethton; Joe Casey, official from Nashville; and Paul Holly, official from Memphis.

The Hall of Fame luncheon will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 15.  The luncheon is to not only honor the new inductees and their families, but to honor all past inductees into the TSSAA Hall of Fame.

Joe Hardin—Served as a coach and principal at Giles County High School for over 20 years.

The late Dan Herron—Educator for over 30 years in Tennessee, serving 28 years as Principal of Gallatin High School.

Randy Barnes—Coached football, baseball, basketball, and track in Tennessee for 29 years, with 27 of those years at Union City High School.

Bob Black—Has spent his entire career at Fulton High School—as a player, coach, and administrator.

Jerry Peters—Basketball Coach for over 40 years at Memphis University School.

Richard Pickell—Basketball coach from Lenoir City, Tennessee with over 500 victories in his career at Oliver Springs and Harriman high schools.  He was also a member of the 1958 Lenoir City state championship team.

Susan Russ—Coached track and field and cross country for nearly 30 years at Harpeth Hall School in Nashville.

Jerry White—Served over 30 years as basketball, track, and golf coach at Hampton High School, where he was also a member of the 1960 state championship team.

Joe Casey—Basketball official for over 20 years, working state tournaments in 1960 and 1966.

Paul Holly—Official from Memphis for over 30 years, who worked numerous football playoff games and two state basketball tournaments.
