16. Classification for 2009-2010 through 2012-2013

In the fall of 2008, we will set classification beginning with the new classification period of 2009-2010. The timeline would be the determining of the classification system to be used at the June 2008 meeting of the Board of Control, with all schools placed in their districts and regions in all sports in the fall of 2008. The purpose of this item being placed on the agenda is to allow the Board of Control to discuss whether there needs to be a two to three-day work session of the Board in the summer of 2007 to look at different classification options to be considered throughout the 2007-2008 school year or whether the present system is working in a satisfactory manner. If the Board of Control is comfortable with the present plan, then there would be no purpose for a work session. The purpose would be to explore all possible plans that might be considered throughout the 2007-2008 school year, with a final determination set by the Board at the 2008 June meeting.
