At some point last year I said in a region like Section 4, if you are a fringe 50-52 second 400m runner, while that may be competitive in other areas of the state, the path of least resistance to Murfreesboro may be to reinvent yourself as a 300m Hurdler. I don't know if Collierville's Chase Peterson read that but he certainly fit the resume and is certainly making my point for me. On Saturday he won the event at the Houston Track Classic in just his THIRD time ever running it. He opened his season with a 42.72, lowered it the next week to a 40.16, and on not only now does he sit atop the weekly leaderboard, he has the number one time in the state at 38.52. Crazy.
