Even though there are a lot of things to take into account when examining this list (weather, how many events some athletes were running, distance race strategies), it's still an interesting report to examine when you look at the three days of competition overall. You'll find the usual suspects towards the top of all of these lists (Nyla Blackmon, Claire Stegall, Mensi Stiff) but there are a couple of other names that stood out.
First of all, we knew the depth of talent in AAA girls long jump but we didn't know what the weather was going to be like. There was rain, there was wind in the faces of all the jumpers, and likely a ton of frustration and yet Northeast's Cierra Bowser on her first jump of her prelim flight was able to PR amidst all of this with a leap of 18-4.75. The performance that early in the competition left everyone chasing her and it wasn't until the final jumper jumped that she could relax. No other jumper on the day eclipsed 18 feet.
