The West Greene sophomore scratched on her first two throws Thursday in the Class A/AA discus finals at the TSSAA Spring Fling. On her third attempt, though, Ray uncorked the best throw of her career. Her distance of 121-01 was not only a personal best and a new school record, but it was exactly eight feet more than runner-up Camryn Bowman of Signal Mountain. Ray immediately began to tear up as it became evident that she would be crowned West Greenes second state champion in track and field in the last three years. (via The Greeneville Sun)
