There were lots of TN No. 1 times run at the Music City HS Indoor Invitational. But few were more impressive than Lay's 6.92 in the 60 meter dash.
The Memphis native took third overall in a loaded field of sprinters from Tennessee, Missouri, Kentucky and Georgia. He had the top time in prelims too.
Lay won the Division II 100 meter dash last spring in 10.62. He ran a wind-aided 10.60 at the Sugar Bowl Classic last spring too. But it looks like he's nowhere close to being done yet. In the 200 meter dash, he's only behind Whitehaven sprinter Emmanuel Bynum, who continues to lead the state rankings.
Bynum continues to have an excellent start to the indoor season as well. He ran 21.67 to almost beat his time from Arkansas a few weeks ago.
He would've likely had the best 400 meter time in the state at Music City, but he was disqualified.
