Skandera Solos 8:53 At HXN, Shifts Focus To RunningLane

HXN Championships

Lebanon, Tennessee - Since winning the RunningLane Cross Country Championships in December, Daniel Skandera of Warrior, Alabama has raced sparingly. He missed all of indoor due to an injury and his unattached affiliation requires him to race outside of Alabama but in his limited racing he has put together a solid outdoor campaign with PRs of 4:10 and 9:05 which both ranked in the US Top 10 for the Class of 2026. In a solo effort on Saturday (above), he moved into the #2 spot for Sophomores with an 8:53.41 behind only Caden Leonard of Southlake Carroll. We caught up with him after.

As stated, he plans on entering the RunningLane Track Championships towards the end of this month and hopes to dip under 8:50 in the process. If he can do that, he'll move into the US Top 5 for the distance All-Time. Be sure to watch the event Live On Milesplit to see if he can and possibly make a run at Lex Young's record of 8:43.71 in the process.
