2024 Moments Of The Year
Though last year was full of records, championships, and personal accolades it was also filled with a lot of grief. The Tennessee running community lost five young athletes and I'd be remiss if I didn't start this article without mentioning them again.
- Gabriel Higginbottom, Bartlett High School - April 27th
- Tristin Franklin, Sycamore High School - August, 29th
- Kate Rust, Thompson Station Middle School - September 20th
- Janie Grace Moss, Goodpasture Christian - October 16th
- Darrah Wiseman, Tellico Plains - November 5th
Please keep the families of these athletes and their school communities in your thoughts and prayers.
The following are the MileSplit Tennessee Top 10 Moments Of the Year.
10. Brentwood Sets All-Time Record For 4x800m
The record had stood for nearly 40 years before Centennial broke it in 2023 then it stood for less than a year when Brentwood rebroke the record at the Doug Hall Relays in Mid-April.
9. Knoxville Catholic Wins On Tie Breaker
Knoxville Catholic opened the season as the #1 team and finished the season as the #1 team ending the five year reign of McCallie in the process on a tie-breaker in Division II Class AA.
