Kymora-Lee and Dreame Williams represent the present and future of sprinting in Middle Tennessee and both claimed titles and broke records in their events on Sunday.
Record Setting Performances
Between the girls and the boys, eleven State Meet Records were set on Sunday at the Tennessee State Indoor Championship across a wide spectrum of events. Before we turn the page to outdoor season, let's take some time to take look at these and give you a opportunity to vote for which performance stood out to you most. Poll closes on Saturday around midnight.
- Kymora-Lee Williams - Trial By Fire: The future Gamecock set the state and All-Time mark in the 60m dash running a 7.40. She now owns both the 60m and 200m All-Time records for girls indoors.
- Dreame Williams - Trial By Fire: Williams had a busy day on Sunday taking to the track 5x over the course of the competition. Not only did she win the 400m Dash setting a new State Meet and All-Time Record with a 54.41, but also placed 3rd in both the 60m and 200m dash; events that included prelims.
- Carolina Areheart - Webb School of Knoxville: Areheart has had a light indoor season due to the extended length of her cross campaign but ramped up her racing ability rather quickly enabling her to defend her 800m title from last year and set a new state meet record of 2:12.58 in the process.
- Camaria Corder - Mt. Juliet: At KYA, Corder became the first Tennessee jumper indoors to eclipse the 40 foot mark. On Sunday, she did it again going 40' 5" to take the triple jump title.
- Collierville Girls 4x400m Relay: The quartet of Addison Young, Emma Eason, Khari Webb, and Adriana Nelson became the first Tennessee 4x400m relay team to run under the four minute mark for the event in Tennessee State Meet History and did so by a wide margin. 3:56.77 is also the fastest All-Time by any team, club or school based.
