Short History
The Southern Showcase did not begin titled by that moniker. It actually began as the Panther Prowl in 2018 and was run under the lights. At that first meet, only three teams from Tennessee were in attendance: Independence, Baylor, and Columbia Academy. Over the years it steadily grew and has become a staple on most teams schedules from the Tri-Star State. The meet will host 130+ teams on Saturday with nearly 30% being from Tennessee. Samantha Ouelette (Above) was just the second Tennessean to run under 18-minutes at this race and since, four more have joined her. I have a feeling more will be added to that this weekend. Jaynie Halterman comes back to John Hunt Park after placing third here a year ago with the TN #1 overall time. She'll be joined by eleven other runners in the top 20 from Lily Bowen of Harpeth Hall to Leila Hailey of Rockvale and many more like Mae Mae Powe who all have an opportunity to run some big lifetime bests.
