Highlighting some of the top performers from every corner of Tennessee.
Siegel's Kirsten Cochran completed the triple crown on Saturday sweeping the 100m, 200m, and 400m races at Green Hill.
Performer Of The Week
Every week this season we will be conducting a poll from beginning Monday and ending Thursday to highlight performances from the previous week. This will give us an opportunity to showcase the best talent in Tennessee. Though some athletes will likely run times every week that are worthy of being in the poll, our goal is to cast a wide net and showcase a vast array of athletes from all parts of the state.

This Week's Candidates
- Camaria Corder (Mt. Juliet): Of all the State Records that haven't been broken since I became editor, the girls triple jump was the one I though was most out of reach. In a state where in our history, less than 10 girls had ever gone over 40 feet prior to last year, 43 feet seemed unattainable... that is until Saturday. Mt. Juliet's Camaria Corder, who never broke 40 outdoors last year, went 42' 1.5" on Saturday in a crosswind. The mark moves her to TN #3 All-Time and is the #2 mark in the country so far this season. Someone needs to start bringing a wind gauge to her meets.
- Gabrielle Gulstrom (Collierville): Heading into this week, Gulstrom was leading the state in the 3200m with an 11:14 at the Shelby County Jamboree. On Friday, she debuted in the 1600m and ran a 5:04 to put herself as the top runner in the state in that event as well at Jack Moran. After all the results from this weekend, she still stands 3rd and 2nd in those event respectively. Did I mention she's just a freshman too? The 1600m was an 18 second improvement off her best from a year ago.
- Kirsten Cochran (Siegel): The junior from Siegel completed the sprint triple crown on Saturday sweeping the 100m, 200m, and 400m races at Green Hill. She opened the day with an 11.79 in the 100m, ran the 400m FOR THE FIRST TIME in 59.09, and ended the day with a 24.09 in the 200m. Her 100m was a half second improvement off her previous best and the 200m was a full second and a half faster.
- Madison Rhodes (Germantown): If you had asked me who Madison Rhodes was before this past weekend I would've had trouble telling you. The senior from Germantown has not ran in an outdoor state championship in her career but currently sites TN #1 in the 400m after a 57.48 at Jack Moran. It's a personal best indoors and out. With the depth of talent in Section 4, it's hard to say whether or not she'll end her streak and make it to Murfreesboro but this put her on a solid trajectory to be one of the four nevertheless.
