A Broken Record
I know I'm saying this again but just to clarify, the records I'm referring to in this article are specifically tied to performances at the TSSAA State Championship. These differ from the "State Records" which are a grab bag of performances run anywhere and under unknown weather conditions. You can compare the two sets of records in the link below.
State Meet Records
As you can see, some of the State Records have not been updated. Emmanuel Bynum of Whitehaven broke the 400m record for boys in 2019 but Darwin Bond's time from 1970 is still listed while Mensi Stiff's record shot put from 2021 has been updated. Either way, those will not be considered in this article but will be highlighted on the site during the regular season as some of those records will likely fall as well at some point. This year has the potential to be special even if only half of the records I'm going to put on notice over these next couple of pages fall.
Emmanuel Bynum currently runs for UT-Knoxville where he has since dipped under 46 second multiple times in the 400m.
