West Greene's Kaci Ray Brings Home State Discus Title May 31, 2014

'BY DARREN REESE SUN SPORTS EDITOR MURFREESBORO - Kaci Ray has a flair for the dramatic. She also knows how to show a little emotion. The West Greene sophomore scratched on her first two throws Thursday in the Class A/AA discus finals at the TSSAA Spring Fling. On her third attempt, though, Ray uncorked the best throw of her career. Her distance of 121-01 was not only a personal best and a new school record, but it was exactly eight feet more than runner-up Camryn Bowman of Signal Mountain. Ray immediately began to tear up as it became evident that she would be crowned West Greenes second state champion in track and field in the last three years. (via The Greeneville Sun)
