Names To Take Notice Of After Jamboree Filled Weekend

Middle Tennessee Jamboree

Gabby Hoskins - Hume Fogg

Senior Gabby Hoskins swept both short sprints yesterday at the Middle Tennessee Jamboree PR-ing in both events with a 12.38 and 25.94.  The improvements are a near half second and full second drop from last year's best which found her on the outside looking in at a state berth. She finished 4th and 3rd in the Class AA Middle Region missing out on an At-Large bid in both events. That said, even with these time it won't be an easy path to state with MLK and now Pearl-Cohn in the region but considering she opened last outdoor season with a 13.00 and 27.30, yesterday should be a confidence boost none the less.

Jurnee Rutherford - Ezell Harding

Typically, when someone takes a 30 meter lead after the first lap of a seeded 800m, you just kind of hold your breath waiting for the pack to reel them back in. That did not occur with Ezell Harding's Jurnee Rutherford yesterday. The sophomore maintained her position to a victory and a time of 2:28.26, just off her personal best. While this time may not stand out on it's face, this would have ranked #6 for Division II Class A at the end of last season. With three of those ahead of her now graduated, this sophomore will likely have a say in qualifying out of the Middle Region in May.
