What Can't Sophie Yount Do?

On Saturday, Sophie Yount opened her meet with a victory in the Long Jump with a state leading mark of 18-5.5 into a headwind. While that should surprise no one considering she touched nineteen feet indoors, it was the following two races that had me raising eyebrows. Brentwood raced some of their high ranking athletes outside of their primary events on Saturday and Yount was entered in the 100m and 400m opens and won both events noticeably gapping a stout field of competition in the 100m (above) finishing in 12.09 and just barely hanging on in the 400m at 59.18. Both were personal records with the 100m now ranking her 4th in the event overall. I'll be curious to see if she attempts the double in the hurdles and open. Brentwood is going to likely need her to score in four opens this year to stave off Memphis Central once again for the title.
