Highlights From The 2023 Green Hill Invitational

Battle Ground Academy Holds Their Own

Sometimes it's hard for me to get eyes on Division II teams throughout the year. Most typically race 4-5 team meets on a Tuesday night and avoid weekends altogether. Last weekend however, I was able to get eyes on CCS who came up to the Siegel Opens and this weekend I got to see Battle Ground Academy at a mid-sized invitational with some of the more prominent programs in Middle Tennessee and they should feel good about their results. The team walked away with two first place finishes starting with Connor McGee (above) who ran a new PR of 11.06 into a headwind to win the 100m dash. Later, Laurel Phelps won the 300m hurdles (below), in 48.04.

Both athletes rank #2 for Division II Class A in those events. On the day, the Wildcats walked away with a handful of seconds, thirds, and fourths across a spectrum of events types. Safe to say their coach was pleased with their showing.
