US Heptathlon Champion and Adidas athlete Anna Hall was in attendance to support the next generation of multi-eventers competing this weekend in Gainesville where she competed collegiately at the University of Florida.
KinderSport Sweeps Multi's Gold
Finding carved out Multi's competitions during the indoor season are few and far between. Teams like KinderSport and Middle TN Athletics who specialize in these events have to travel quite a ways to participate. Earlier this year one was held in Birmingham and on Saturday another was contested at the RADD Sunshine Showcase in Gainesville, Florida and KinderSport Athletics swept both golds.
Yount Comes From Behind
Through four events Brentwood sophomore Sophie Yount was in third place in the point totals with 2585 trailing IMG's Jordan Koskondy (2704) and club teammate Evie Culbreath (2677). With the help of a 12 second PR, Yount was able to overtake both competitors running a 2:25.77 in the 800m run.
The run was good for 747 points racking her total up to 3332 which narrowly edged Koskondy by just 10 points. Kindersport teammates Culbreath and Kiersten Bell took 3rd and 4th respectively.
Aiden Carter Cruises To Victory
Oregon commitment Aiden Carter did not need a come from behind victory to secure gold this weekend. The senior from Brentwood won the first three events of the competition with a 22' 5.25" performance in the long, 41' 10.75" performance in the shot, and this 8.23 victory in the 60m Hurdles.
It wasn't Carter's best performance in the event this season. He currently sits TN #1 in the event with 8.18 at KYA Indoor earlier this month. In total he accumulated 3773 total points. Teammate Canon Kinder placed fifth with 3025.
Culbreath Doubles Back In the Open
Though she didn't come away with the victory in the Pentathlon, Baylor's Evie Culbreath did double duty also entering the Open 60m Hurdles where she lowered her state leading time to 8.59 winning the event.
Miller Wins The 600m
It's hard to pick which race to plug in here. On Saturday night, Abby Miller of Summit ran a TN #2 400m Dash running a 58.54 placing 6th overall in the event. On Sunday, she won the 600m with this 1:36.07.
So far this indoor campaign the junior has raced the 200, 400, 600, and 800. It's hard to predict what she plans to do outdoor she's posting impressive times in every distance.
Allain Breaks 50
Fellow junior Hudson Allain also ran the 400m dash and moved into TN #2 with his first attempt at the distance this season indoors. His 49.59 is just off his outdoor PR of 49.22.
CJ Weaver Gets Silver
Like Miller, Brentwood's C.J. Weaver has also touched them all so far this outdoor season. On Saturday he ran his first open 600m and placed second in the event with 1:23.67.
Looking ahead, with Allain, Weaver, and Carter Brentwood will have a strong core to begin the season in the relays 200 meters and above. Will be curious to see how this potentially unfolds this spring.
