Champs Sports 2022
For the second year in a row, Webb School of Bell Buckle's Abby Faith Cheeseman competed at Balboa Park in San Diego and the results of the two races could not have been more different, even the name of the meet. At Eastbay As a freshman, she finished 31st running her worst 5k of the season by almost a minute. This year, under the newly branded Champs National Cross Country Championships moniker, she ran the fastest any girl from Tennessee has ever run at the historic course crossing the finish line in 17:13 and finishing 4th overall. It was the 3rd highest any girl has ever finished at the championship. Independence's Kathy Kroeger won the event in 2007 while CAK's Rebecca Story placed 3rd in 2016. The most recent girl other to run at this meet prior to Cheeseman was Jenna Hutchins of Science Hill who placed fifth. Cheeseman lowered her state leading time by three seconds. Below is the ranking for every runner in Tennessee history to run at the championship event. Congrats to Abby Faith. Can't wait to see what she does this spring.
