Sovereign Grace's Tyson Peters placed 5th overall with a new PR of 16:09. He was the first finisher for the Storm who placed 5th as a team.
2022 HXN Championship
I'm going to be honest, when I woke up on Saturday I did not want to go to another cross country meet. I had just spent the last 48 hours essentially at Sanders Ferry Park covering the TSSAA State Championship, needed to (and still need to) write recaps and edit video for that competition and didn't think I could handle piling more on to that load. Not to mention, the forecast for that morning was less than ideal. Relentless wind caused the rain to fall sideways. Nevertheless, myself and a photographer persisted and like always when I am reluctant to go to a meet, I always leave glad I did.
For those that don't know what HXN stands for, the acronym loosely means Homeschool Cross Country Nationals. My first introduction to the home education running scene was back in 2019 when I mistook Sovereign Grace for a small private school. The next year, I wrote a feature on the program and continued to discover the vastness of this network of programs throughout Tennessee and the country. While I knew from the small sample size of in state programs that were going to be in attendance that this meet would have quality runners, I was surprised at the performances HXN produced on Saturday.
