There isn't much to say about the individual race. Abby Faith Cheeseman looks destined to make it three for three. Though Lauren Rutlin was able to beat Cheeseman last spring in the 3200m, the two met at Horton earlier this month where Cheeseman ran 17:04 and Rutlin ran 18:07. While I expect Cheeseman to take the lead immediately, I'm just curious to see how motivated Rutlin is chase, run in no man's land, or pace with the pack for the first lap before pulling away. In the chase pack will be fellow seniors Sarah Catherine Donovan who we featured in our runner to watch interview and Auldyn Plant and fresh face Henley Pritchard who is an 8th grader.

Full Division II Class A Team Rankings

At season's midpoint, the three time defending team champion's St. George's Independent School was still the on-paper favorite to repeat. At the time though, only five runners had documented times and in a couple of subsequent races after that they did have enough finishers to score as a team. They have seven runners now but have slipped in the rankings to third with surprise favorite Westminster Academy who just beat the Gryphons at their Region Qualifier. Last year at state, the Defenders narrowly missed bringing home team hardware placing 3rd behind runner-up USN by just one point. They returned everyone this season and added some depth from their middle school bringing up runners like 8th grader Caroline Anthony to help solidify the back end scoring with older sister Molly Anthony. I think the team race between Webb and Westminster will be very close.
