What Stands Out
While in the overall standings the transfers for the Webb School of Knoxville were included, for a division associated with the state meet I decided to only score runners who were eligible. This give Harpeth Hall the current advantage. They are the only team that has 4 runners under twenty minutes with the defending individual state champion in Bella Guillamondegui who is under 18. The Spartans will still be a problem as they will have three runners challenging for top five. If their four and five runners can close the gap before the end of the season they have the potential to play spoiler as they came just 4 points shy of doing so last season. The thing that stands out are the teams that aren't currently ranking very well. Girls Prep, who won the title two years ago and still has many of those same runners on the team, currently ranks 7th. Baylor, who potentially wins if Powe doesn't fall in the first 1/2 mile, currently ranks 5th. Without regionals, these teams have a little bit more flexibility in their training schedule than others so a late season surge is not beyond the realm of possibility.
