Meet Previews: Dickson Invitational

Dickson Invitational

This is the first weekend of what seemingly feels like the remainder of the regular season where most of the high profile teams will travel out of state to run at some high profile courses and competitions. Those staying in state look at have limited options but may ultimately have some of the most impressive times.

The Girl's Field

Buckner Park isn't a high profile course in Tennessee but it has produced some very fast times over the last five years or so. Since 2016, ten girls have run 18:30 or faster with two going sub-18: Landri Wilcox (17:52) and Leigh Walters (17:43). Though the field won't be as "stacked" as some of the later season meets the course will host, I'm still looking forward to what some of the girl's in the field will produce. Strong squads like Father Ryan, Page, and Sovereign Grace all have the opportunity to put up an impressive early season average while USN's Auldyn Plant and Lipscomb's Molly Roush will look to follow up their Top 5 Finishes with what looks to be a possible open victory on Saturday.

Last week in our photo recap I mentioned Molly Roush's performance and as I alluded to last year during track, I expect the impact of "athletic refugees" moving to Tennessee to continue. The sophomore from California now finds her self sandwiched between Harpeth Hall's Bella Guillamondegui and Baylor's Mae Mae Powe in the Division II AA Classification. In order to get to know more about her, I reached out for an interview to help preview Saturday's race.
