Seven weeks down, one more month to go.

We can't believe that we're already a month away from the state cross country meet. And team races in each division are starting to take shape.

Brentwood High School has had the best team in the state, and one of the best teams in the country, all season long.

Over the weekend, the Bruins continued to prove how good they are.

Kaitlyn Vanderkolk, Brooke Tyll and Peyton Strauss led Brentwood to the team title at the prestigious Jesse Owens Invitational in Alabama. That trio finished fifth, seventh and 13th to lead BHS to nearly a 100-point victory over second place Siegel High School.

Independence High School had a big weekend in Alabama as well, but not at Jesse Owens. 

The Eagles, led by Jayne Halterman and Julia Halterman, averaged 18:57 en route to an 18-point performance and a team win at the Lake Guntersville Invitational.
