Former Tennessee athletes fared well at the 2018 SEC Cross Country Meet in Auburn, Alabama on Friday morning.
Tennessee was led by a couple of former state champions from East Tennessee -- Alex Crigger and Zach Long. Crigger, the former Science Hill Hilltopper, led the Volunteers with a 15th place finish. He crossed the line in 23:22. Long, racing in his final SEC Championship, finished in 23:38.
The Vols had lots of former Tennessee standout helping them to a fourth place finish in the conference. Central Magnet alumnus Andre Hillsman finished 30th with a 23:50. Former Oak Ridge standouts Wesley Robinson and Gashaw Duhamel finished 50th and 51st respectively for Tennessee. Former Knoxville Catholic state champion Georde Goodwyn, just a freshman, came in 54th with a 24:16.
On the women's side, West High School rebel Megan Murray was the second Lady Vol to cross the line on Friday morning. She finished 18th with a 20:00.03 6k. Former Webb Spartan Peighton Meske was the third overall finisher for UT. She came in 39th. Beech High School's Jessica Rizor finished in 21:45. The Lady Vols finished seventh.
Elsewhere around the conference, a few other athletes helped their teams without wearing an orange jersey. Alabama's Clay Austell (Briarcrest) came in 49th with a 24:09. Another former Saint Meghan Underwood came in 68th for the SEC Champion Arkansas Razorbacks, running 21:00.
