Four King College Track School Records set at Western Carolina Invitational

 Hamilton, Nave, Simmons and Davis lower King marks


Running in overcast conditions and occasional light rain at the Western Carolina Invitational track meet King athletes performed very well. Continually seeking competition against Division I and II NCAA teams in order to achieve top marks, it was business as usual for the track team. Although no wins were recorded several seconds and many podium finishes were achieved by the King track athletes. All Americans Brittany Simmons and Tyrell Cuffy produced National qualifying performances.
 
Top three finishers included:
Brittany Simmons (400m), Carrie Nelson (5000m), Mary Armstrong (pole vault), Tyrell Cuffy (100m & 200m), David Krenik (400), Daniel Hamilton (5000m), Derek Nave (Hammer Throw). Also, Krenik, Cuffy, Richard Ibeh and Chris Headrick joined forces to finish 3rd in the 4x400m relay only 8/10ths out of first.
 
In the process the following school records were established:

Daniel Hamilton, 5000 meters - 15:40.21

Derek Nave, Hammer throw - 45.28m/148’-07”

Brittany Simmons, 400 meters – 57.13

Amanda Davis, 800 meters - 2:25.22
