CLOYD CROWNED NATIONAL CHAMP IN LONG JUMP

 

FRESNO, CALIF. - Sophomore Josh Cloyd (Telford, Tenn.) jumped 24 feet (24-00.75) to make him the 2007 NAIA National Champion in the Long Jump. Cloyd was ranked sixth going into the final round of competition, where he exploded for the best jump of the day. This is the first National Champion in King College Track and Field history.

 

Tyrell Cuffy was ready to make it two for the day as he remained the leader in the 100 meters, before a bad cramp kept him from the finals. Cuffy will have two more chances tomorrow as he competes in both the 200 meter and 4 x 100 meter relay. Cuffy ran a personal best of 10.26 in the semifinals for the 100, and was ready to give the defending champ a good race in the finals.

 

Judy Johnson finished 6th in the women?s 100 meters. Qualifying her for All-American status for the second year in a row.
