The King College Track & Field team will head to Fresno, Calif. this Sunday for the NAIA National Track and Field Meet. The Tornado will be represented by the 4 women and 8 men who qualified for the competition. Representing the women will be: JaRethea Adams, Amanda Davis, Judy Johnson and Brittany Simmons. For the men: Michael Bunche, Josh Cloyd, Daniel Colina, Tyrell Cuffy, Brandon Gray, David Krenik, Marcus Lomans and Jamaal Parker will compete. Events will begin on Thursday and will go through Saturday. “This is an exciting trip for us. We are taking more athletes than we’ve taken before. Last year we had one, Judy Johnson, make All-American and this year we think we could have a few more,” assistant coach Johnny Bomar. This is the third year King College has been represented at the National competition and only the third year of team’s existence.
Daniel Colina, who qualified for Nationals in the javelin, is extremely excited about his first trip to Calif. as well as the National tournament. “It’s going to be a great experience. I have learned so much throughout the year and look forward to the opportunities that lay ahead of me,” said the Junior from Topsham, Maine. Colina qualified at the Appalachian Athletic Conference meet meet. Daniel, along with his 12 teammates, are not only looking forward to representing their school at the national level, they are also looking forward to the great experience the trip is sure to provide.
