Here is my annual listing of indoor meets, along with any comments I hope may be helpful. I've linked meet info to each of the meet names that I could, so clicking on a meet name should get you current meet info (unless it states that meet info is not yet available). The list is very early and (in some cases) obviously tentative. As more information becomes available, I'll either edit what I've got below or post new information. If an event isn't listed below - please feel free to reply with an addition to this list. Note that the Milesplit Indoor Meet Calendar will list meets, but coaches/athletes should verify those dates as some meets may appear simply because one team listed the meet on their schedule without confirming the actual date. Most of these meets are listed under "Upcoming Meets" at Directathletics.com. Mason Country Indoor meets (Jan 18, 25, Feb 2, 8, 15, 22) Long-standing series, so no need to go into details. The meet seems very popular, and does provide opportunities for MS kids - but we’ve never attended, so I can’t add much else. KYA High School Indoor Classic (Jan 17-18) @ East TN State Univ The track is oversized like UK, with a tremendous amount of seating (best I’ve ever seen at an indoor meet). Competition in some events is very similar to what you’d get at the UK HS Invite - particularly in the sprints and in their elite section mile and 3000. No school teams in this one, everyone runs for a club or unattached. Western Indiana Indoor I (Jan 18) @ DePauw Univ The facility is a nice one. Entry is through Directathletics, but I haven’t seen any info floating around just yet. Indianarunner Distance Showcase (Feb 1) @ Wabash College This meet falls on the same day as the Wildcat Classic, but it’s still a great event. They run the 800, 1200, 1600 and 3200, and then a Distance Medley. Entry is through Directathletics.com and info is also available at Indianarunner.com. UK Wildcat Classic (Feb 1) The meet underwent some minor changes last year with the addition of shot put, pole vault and long jump, but I’ll assume everyone’s familiar with the meet - so there’s no need to say much. The general spectator seating isn’t great, but this is one of the best run meets we’ve ever attended. Everyone runs under their school in this meet, no club teams can compete. Entries will be submitted here at KY milesplit and detailed info is available here. Vanderbilt HS Invitational (Feb 1) @ Vanderbilt University This is a new meet that’s being put on by Knoxville Youth Athletics, and it's being run on a brand new track in Vandy's newly built multi-purpose facility. Based on the info, they appear to be trying to host a more elite level meet. Richey Tune-up HS Indoor meet (Feb 8) @ Cedarville University I know that several Kentucky teams have made it to this meet. Entries will be done through Directathletics. Indiana Track Club Winter Open Meet (Feb 8) @ IU Bloomington The IU Indoor meet will be held on Feb 8. Indiana HS teams have to compete as clubs, but Kentucky HS teams can compete as clubs or HS teams. Information on this meet is posted under Club Calendar at the Indiana TC’s website. Entries will open on Jan 20 and submitted through directathletics.com through this link. As I've said in the past, the IU track is awesome. It has banked turns, a great surface, and is typically very fast with distance events. Seating is pretty good at IU, and the competition is good to great. The meet can run a bit slow at times, and if a lot of teams and individuals show up (like most years), then the meet can move a bit slow. Ohio State Indoor Meet series (Jan 18, Feb 1, Feb 8, Feb 15) A very good meet in terms of competition. Ohio State has a 200m track with a relatively new surface. Meets run moderately slow to ok, and seating is pretty limited. Meet entries will be made through Ohio milesplit. One thing I like about this meet is that you can run a pair of relay teams with your entry fee. If you attend, I’d get there a bit early and stake out an area for your team. Arriving late with a larger group could be problematic with finding somewhere to sit. Competition includes some of the better Ohio teams, so it can be pretty good at times. Schools, clubs and unattached runners compete in this one. UK High School Indoor (Feb 22) I’ll assume everyone is familiar with this meet. Competition is club based for KY kids, and you can expect a strong field in every event. In my opinion, this is possibly one of the best indoor meets you can attend anywhere in the country. Entries will be made through Directathletics again this year, and detailed info is available here. West Lafayette Individuals (Fri-Mar 7) @ Purdue Univ Unlike a lot of the Indiana indoor meets, this one runs all the standard indoor individual events and no relays. A big highlite, is that the meet runs the sprint events on the inside of the track while the distance events (1600 and 3200) are going on around the track. Competition has historically been very solid, especially on the girls side. Only HS teams are allowed into this one. List of Indoor meets in Ohio (Jan 3-Mar 2) The Ohio State Meets are listed as well as a number of other meets. In terms of whether you can compete as a school or club, you'd have to check with the meet director for a particular meet. Meets are also listed at Ohio’s milesplit site. List of Indoor meets in Indiana (Mar 1-15) This list includes all the meets that Indiana HSs can use to qualify for their indoor State Meet. Note that many of the Qualifier meets run an abbreviated set of events. There are other Indiana meets typically listed within the Indianarunner forum and also at the Indiana milesplit site. New Balance Indoor Nationals (March 14-16) @ the Armory in NY Not much to say here other than it's a great event for those who can qualify.

The KTCCCA is doing a Mason Dixon Games replacement Indoor Championship on March 1 and 8 at the Mason County facility, with the proceeds from the meet being applied to re-establishing the MDG. Details are available here, but it'll have the following format: March 1 - AAA schools, Masters and Middle School March 8 - A and AA schools Membership in the KTCCCA is required, just as it was with MDG. Entries will be made through KY Milesplit.

I wanted to make an editing followup. When listing the meets up above, I cited the Knoxville TC Indoor Classic, but that name was incorrect. The link I provided was also incorrect. The meet is actually put on by Knoxville Youth Athletics, and the meet name is KYA High School Indoor Classic. Meet info is available at http://knoxvilleyouthathletics.org/meetsraces/knoxville-youth-athletics-high-school-indoor-classic. Each of those changes was made up above as well.

Up above, I've posted info for Feb 8 Indiana Track Club High School Open meet at IU Bloomington and mentioned that meet entries will likely be submitted through directathletics.com. The link to do that is now up at directathletics and it says that entries will open on Jan 20. Here's the link: http://www.directathletics.com/meets/track/32238.html

This is true. Meet at IU will be canceled as they believe that transportation in the area could be dangerous.

@ManualXC Coaches -- I had an email this morning from a KY coach. He said the word on the street in KY was the meet on 2/8 at IU had been cancelled. The streets are wrong again. The meet has not been cancelled. The track has been re-surfaced and is ready for some fast times. Hope to see you all Saturday.....Coach Rumple

Sorry about the mixup. Went to the directathletics website this morning and it said the meet was canceled. Went back after seeing this and apparently it is open. My mistake.
