Lindsay Flynn is the first four-year-letter-woman on the JCS track & field team. She has participated in the last three state meets in the 1600m and 800m. In 2005, she was a member of the women's 4 x 400m relay that qualified for state. She joined teammates Rachel Pugh, Erin Jackson, and Chantel Mangrum in placing third in a new JCS school record time of 4:10.75.
As a senior, she is running well; clocking 2:36.00 in the 800m and 5:57 in the 1600m. Both times are faster than her qualifying times at the regional track meet last year. She is very competitive and has helped raise the quality of women's middle distances to its current strength in our region. Lindsay along with USJ's Katie Hayes are two of the best middle distance runners in the state and both hope to return to the state meet this year.
Lindsay plans to play basketball, signing with Union University. The Union team has been NAIA Women's national champions two years in a row. Her winning attitude should help drive the team to four more. Lindsay is a versatile athlete who is also four-year varsity athlete in soccer.
Lindsay Flynn, as a freshman, beat Jackson's reigning distance champion Shannon Rudd from JCM. Shannon encouraged excellence in Lindsay and Lindsay continues in the same winning as Shannon.
Lindsay Flynn was told at the state meet four years ago that as you mature physically it would be harder to get back to state. Lindsay has been up to the challenge! She has done two-a-day workouts for weeks to prepare for a return trip to the state meet. Possibly bettering her school records of 2:26.00 in the 800m and 5:46.00 in the 1600m.
