University of Memphis Invitational Meet Review

It’s always nice to walk into a Track & Field venue as a meet just before everything is getting started.  Athletes milling about, getting their marks, some doing hurdle drills, some doing A-skips, and mostly just going through their routine as they warm up for their event.  For most Track enthusiasts, that’s what you see when you walk into the University of Memphis Billy J. Murphy Track and Field Complex.  But there’s more.  The track is set next to the baseball and softball fields, football and golf practice area and I’m not even sure what else is among all the buildings and fields.  Then you see those beautiful Memphis trees, lots of them.  Walking into the track, you get a feeling you’re entering a neighborhood park on your way to a picnic.  Well, a picnic with some super talented athletes of course, but still a very nice comfortable location - to compete your heart out!  The background of trees, the deep green grass (being...
