In anticipation of a Winter Storm that is forecasted to impact the Southeast area of the United States, KYA has coordinated with Norton Healthcare Sports and Learning Center to reschedule the Southeast Showdown to February 1st. While the models continue to change by the day, the idea that the majority of the participants may be snowed in or have to risk their safety to travel did not seem worth it. The NHSLC has been a great supporter of the meet and welcomed the opportunity to reschedule to ensure the safety of participants and their supporters.
"This meet has become a staple on the calendar for so many of our Tennessee and Kentucky teams and we feel its in the interest of safety to move this meet one week. We had overwhelming feedback when we polled those attending and over 72% of respondents asked for the new date. This will also help insure that any Tennessee athlete who wants to qualify for the TN State HS Indoor Championships on 2/8 will have a final opportunity to compete." - Meet Director Chris Kane
