Cleveland, Ohio – February 16, 2011 - The Tennessee Secondary School
Athletic Association (TSSAA) proudly announces their partnership with
the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association, Inc. (SUDIA), making
chocolate milk the “Official Beverage” of the TSSAA.
This unique partnership provides an opportunity for the TSSAA and SUDIA to promote a healthy lifestyle,
which includes enjoying three servings of low-fat or fat-free dairy each day as recommended by the U.S.
Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
Beginning this winter, the chocolate milk campaign will be featured at TSSAA Championship events.
Chocolate milk is an ideal beverage for student-athletes to drink because it provides the unique
nutrition needed after sporting events and practices, including:
Carbohydrates to provide energy and help fuel muscles
Protein to support growth and repair of muscles
Vitamins and minerals to help build strong bones and bodies
The importance of drinking chocolate milk will be promoted via signage, LED scoreboard, Jumbotron
technology, public address announcements, print ads and on-site booths.
"We are looking forward to working with SUDIA," said Bernard Childress, Executive Director of the
TSSAA. “They have a very important message to convey to the public, and a natural fit for us.”
"I am very excited about the partnership with the TSSAA, and look forward to them promoting chocolate
milk's unique blend of protein, nine essential vitamins, and minerals that are critical to superior athletic
performance," said Randy Davis president of the American Dairy Association of Tennessee. "This
partnership will help to ensure that athletes in Tennessee schools will be playing at their best, but also
living a healthier lifestyle."
