National Marks Set By Tennesseans At Eastern Indoors

Ware Debuts To US #8

Through two meets this season we've only seen Jordan Ware in one distance, the 60m Dash where he ranks 23rd nationally. Thought it may not be his best distance since his main advantage is his stride length but the focus in the shorter sprint so far has really showcased his improved acceleration. Both were on display on Saturday as he ran his first 200m dash to the tune of 21.41 which ranks 8th nationally. Twin sister Jaitlyn Ware would finish 5th in the 200m dash with a 25.42. She currently ranks 5th in Tennessee with a 25.23 run earlier this season.

The other national headliner from Memphis Central in action on Saturday was Zavien Wolfe who committed to the University of Georgia this week. He placed 3rd in the long jump, losing a horizontal jump for the first time this season, with a 23-7 but notably placed 6th in the hurdles with an 8.48. It was his first time in an open hurdle event since freshman year.

While this may not seem all that notable, if the Warriors are going to repeat as team champions in May, they are going to need Wolfe to score as many if not more points than he did last season. This renewed focus on hurdles will improve his scoring in the Decathlon where he placed runner up and open the door to qualify in an open running event in a Section Four where all four state qualifiers from last year graduated.
