What Stands Out
When you look at the overall rankings, the thing that caught my attention is that even though the top three teams are all Division I Class AAA, five of the next seven teams are from Division II Class AA and none of them are named McCallie. The Blue Tornados have only run one race so far and their next is slated for Saturday at their home course. In our preseason storylines we wrote about how it's likely that A TEAM from the Division II could emerge as the state's definitive best. What I did not anticipate is the overall depth of this classification given that at the end of 2021 only McCallie and Brentwood Academy were ranked in the Top 10. With the overall youth on these teams, this will be a very strong division over the next couple of seasons.
