Which State Meet Records Could Be Broken In 2022?

Open Sprints

Boys 110m Hurdles - 13.80

In our database, only eight runners have times documented under the 14 second mark in this event and last year is the only year we had two in the same season. Luckily for us, they're both returning. Bartlett's Kylan Bernard and White Station's Shamari Covington are ranked one and two respectively with a 13.89 and 13.98. Joining them in the 901 this season will be Tyler Bell of Memphis Central who is no slouch himself but has no documented time in the event. Based on this race at Eastern Indoors though, he'll likely be pushing low 14s this season as well.

Iron sharpens iron and with these runners stepping on the track together on a weekly basis this spring will likely spark firework in this event in May given favorable wind conditions.

Boys 100m Dash - 10.43

This record was set last season but there's a strong chance it gets set again. The main player is Pearl Cohn's Barion Brown who ran 10.49 the day before Christian Langlois ran 10.43. He's a blink away. The problem is he may not have anyone to push him in the same way the hurdlers above do. The closest returners are Memphis Central's Jordan Ware (10.69) and Greenville's Jaden Stevenson (10.75) but none of these sprinters will meet on the track at any point this season. They're all from different areas of the state and are all now in different classifications. If this record is broken it'll take a motivated individual effort.

Barion Brown is signed to play football for Kentucky next fall.
