Most of the 2021 season one to forget for Macon County's Isaac Kirby. After qualifying for state out of Large Section 3 in the 3200m in track as a sophomore, things were looking bright heading into junior cross country season but this fall was riddled with nagging injuries and race times on courses worse than the year before. Kirby buried all that on Saturday when he won the Blue Division race in a time of 15:53. Rest, recovery, and recalibration away from the regular season grind can go a long way sometimes.
