Analysis:
This one is a little more split. Region 6 comes in with the low cumulative score (as expected in the premise) and it's not surprising but it's actually closer between Region 1 and Region 6 than these scores reflect. 2018 was the infamous DQ by Sasha Neglia of Dobyns Bennett. Had she scored, DBHS moves from 8th to 2nd shifting the placements for that year for Region 1 to 2nd, 7th, 8th and Region 6's to 4th, 11th, 13th. The total cumulative scores are then Region 1 with 78 and Region 6 with 74. So then looking at the other metric, with Region 1 having the lower third team average, you really have a draw between the two regions.
Now, while this may not surprise you, the overall strength of Region 1 does surprise me as I think the star power of Sasha Neglia and Jenna Hutchins has overshadowed the team results coming out of this area of the state. However, as said with the boys, I think Region 6 is in position to stake claim to both over the next cycle with Brentwood leading the way and up and coming Nolensville continuing their trajectory upward but from the results of this study they're pretty even.
David Crockett was the Big 5 Championship beating Dobyns-Bennett and Science Hill who were ranked ahead of them. They finished 6th in Large Division I in 2020.
