While Abby Faith was the much anticipated freshman on the girl's side, Keegan Smith was on the boy's and likewise, did not disappoint. Smith was 30 meters clear of the lead chase pack before the two mile mark and held on for a 15 second victory. The results are still pending but his 15:47 will be good enough for Top 5 when the first overall rankings come out this week. Here's what he had to say after the race.

The next runner behind him was Farragut's Trevor Coggin. Now, in coming to Cherokee, the main team ticket item in my mind was to see the Admiral girls in person before State and while the girls did win, the boys team may have been more impressive based on the eye test. Even with a primary scorer sidelined this week, the team scored 45 points, had a 16:33 average, and a 54 second one through six spread.
They, like the girls, only graduated one from their scoring five from a team that finished 4th overall last season. The team looked ready to improve on that position come November.
Trevor Coggin placed 9th overall in Large Division I in 2020 with a 16:14.
