Cross country is almost here.

It's time to start looking at the top teams in the state by the numbers based on times from last season.

After big weeks of competition, we'll take a look at the power rankings in our TN Milesplit Ten, completely based on season best marks from the 2019 cross country campaign.

Our first installment uses season bests from last year. Since our rankings just pull raw numbers from season best times, there's obviously room for error. Especially during cross country season. Every course is different, and sometimes conditions make a huge impact.

But these numbers will give us a pretty good idea of who's in the mix for a state championship.

Two-time defending champs Siegel lead the way to start the season. But as we mentioned earlier this week on the site, it's wide open.

Bartlett High School is a candidate for a big breakout season. McCallie is too.

Here's our first top ten by the numbers!
