TSSAA State Meet Qualifier Team Breakdown

Brentwood Academy has more state championships than anyone else in the state of Tennessee. They're looking to make it No. 25 next week.

The Eagles have the most qualifiers for the state meet in the entire field. But they'll still be challenged. On paper, MBA has a great shot at ending the Eagles' run of four-straight state championships. Led by outstanding utility-man John Curry, the Big Red could be ready to pull of an upset.

But BA's trio of future NCAA Division I distance runners will be tough to beat. Matthew McMillan (Tennessee), Matthew Porter (Army West Point) and George Payne (UT-Martin) could go 1-2-3 in the 1600 and 3200. If so, good luck keeping BA from another first-place trophy. Look out for Antonio Lay and Christian Brothers too. They won't go down quietly either.

Both girls divisions will have close races in DII. Harpeth Hall and BA have two of the deepest teams in the entire meet. Ensworth has outstanding long sprinters, led by Kaiya Wynn, and could have the ace up their sleeve if the meet comes down to the 4x400.

\Webb's girls were dominant last fall during cross country. Can their distance events keep them in contact with Harding, who ran away with the team title last year? CAK will also have something to say about their chances for a first-place team trophy.

FRA looks like the team to beat in DII-A. In fact, their outstanding field events could put the team race out of reach before a gun even goes off. Harding has some outstanding jumpers and throwers too though. If they can keep pace, their sprint depth could make things awfully interesting late on Wednesday night.
