New High Caliber Track Meet Announced

RICHMOND, VA -- MileStat.com creator Brandon Miles announced today plans to host a high-caliber post-season high school track meet to be held at Sports Backers Stadium in Richmond, Virginia on Saturday, June 10th and Sunday, June 11th. The meet lies on the June weekend in between the Virginia public schools' outdoor track state meets and the Nike Outdoor Nationals. Meet promoter and director Brandon Miles is hoping to gather many of Virginia's top track and field athletes for the post-season invitational as well as bring in talent outside of the state. The event called the MileStat.com Elite Track Gala will be a meet that serves several different purposes for high school track athletes and others.

  • To help high school athletes continuing their outdoor track season for Nike Outdoor Nationals, the meet can serve as a tune-up prior to NON. Several of the events offered at the meet are unique events that are not offered in regular season competition to prepare athletes for the event at nationals such as the 2000 meter steeple, 400 meter hurdles, 5000 meter run, etc. Many athletes may feel the weekend layoff will leave them rusty or unfocused for nationals. This meet will correct that!

  • To help high school athletes who cannot compete at Nike Outdoor Nationals for whatever reason it may be (did not qualify, schedule conflict such as high school graduation, money/transportation issues, etc.), the MileStat.com Elite Track Gala can serve as a great alternative meet for athletes wishing to continue their season for one final meet after their state championship. The seventh place finisher from the regional meet who just missed qualifying for the state meet. The relay team that just finished off the school record at states. The state champion who just missed breaking 5 minutes in the 1600 meter run at the state meet. The senior who had a poor race at states and would like to close out their high school career on a better note. The Group A and private school star who wants to show they can run with the "big school" kids. Whatever your background or circumstances may be, there are many compelling factors to motivated to participate in a post-season meet opportunity like this!

  • To bring together some of the best athletes together in and out of the state of Virginia regardless of classification. These athletes have been separated from competition against each other throughout the entire championship season from mid-May on. While a "Meet of Champions" may never exist in Virginia, this may be the closest thing to it!
