Those of us who love the sport of Track & Field are all anxious for this time of year to start.  This past Saturday at Southwind high school, several West TN high schools enjoyed a nice sunny day for the first big meet of the season.  Since this was a pre-season scrimmage style meet, nobody was too concerned about seeing great performances or going up against a full slate of athletes.  But if this is any indication how the season will start, a large meet, sunny day, and great performances, then the 2012 Track & Field season is going to be a good one for sure! 

 

The meet started off early with Craigmont High Jumper Jacobie Richmond winning with a jump of 5’2”.  That was just two inches off her effort from the State Championships last year.  Right behind her were two at five feet even, Whitehaven’s Mya McCoy and Craigmont teammate, Zalondria Graham.   But while that was going on, the boys Discuss was proving to be the place to be that morning to witness some throw...
