Small team BIG Heart, win first ever AAC Track & Field Championship.

The nine members of King College\'s first ever track and field team traveled to Davidson College Saurday and won the first ever AAC Track & Field Championship. The team total of 111 points was 38 more than second place finisher Virginia Intermont. All nine members contributed to the win in a determined team effort. Typical of the \"can do\" attitude of the women was Megan Settlemire\'s willingness to compete is 6 events. Megan scored in all 6; winning the triple jump, placing 2nd in the 100 hurdles, 400 hurdles and long jump. She also placed 3rd in the javelin and shot put. In all the women won 6 additional first events. These wins included Sharry Bain - 100 meters, Bethany Williams - 400 meters, Anita Lawson - 3000m Steeple Chase, Rebecca Webb - 400m Hurdles, 400m Relay (Bain, Webb, Williams, Alex White), and 1600m Relay (Webb, Williams, White, Katie Kemper). Adding to these wins Ashley Bugher scored in the High Jump and Shot Put, Angelay Kimeu scored in the 100m and 200m, and Katie Kemper scored in the 800m and 1500m. Overcoming pouring rain Justin Seaver qualifies for NAIA Nationals in the 110 Hurdles.

Competing in the combined Irwin Belk and Appalachian Athlete Conference Championship meet held at Davidson College Justin ran a personal best of 14.92 seconds. With this performance Justin can now compete at the NAIA National Championship meet held May 26 & 27 in Louisville Kentucky.

In the team competition the men finished second behind Virginia Intermont (80 points) with 64 points. The small team of only 7 men competed hard. Matt Newton lead the team with 4 first place finishes (100m, 400 Hurdles, Pole vault and Javelin), Justin Seaver won the 110 Hurdles and placed second in both the high jump and 100 meters. Other team members included Trevor Howarter (1500 &3000), Andrew Stuart (1500 & 3000), Daniel Booher (800 and 4x400), Chris Headrick (400 and 4x400) and Derek Webb (800 and 4x400).
