Dominic Taylor - Riverdale/RCTC
It's hard to believe someone that ran 10.68 and 21.70 as a sophomore did not garner more attention but the state was so deep in sprints last spring that Riverdale's Dominic Taylor placed just off the podium in the 100m and failed to qualify for the 200m entirely. Yesterday, he did not leave empty handed. He placed 4th overall in the 60m dash with a 6.97 and third in the 200m with a 21.98. State was just his second indoor meet ever. Even though Section 2 is a little gutted this season compared to last, it's apparent he's ready to take control of the short sprints.

Hayden Waleski - Clarksville
The last time a male runner from the Clarksville area qualified for a "distance" event out of Section 3 was 2015 when West Creek's Adam Wendel placed 4th in the 800m with a 1:56.49. Last year, Clarksville's Hayden Waleski came close with a 5th place finish in the 1600m and a 6th place finish in the 800m. His performance yesterday suggests the drought has a chance to end this spring. Prior to this indoor season, the senior had yet to go under 2:00 or under 4:30 but at Vanderbilt on Saturday went 1:55.56 and 4:25.72. His finishes were good enough for 5th and 10th place against a lot of out of division competitors. Section 3 is not an easy road with Brentwood, Beech, Ravenwood, etc... but this should be a confidence booster for him heading into outdoor.
