The top two returning short sprinters in the state, Javarian Otey and Ondre Evans, raced head to head once in 2023. At Great Eight, Otey would place runner up running 10.65 just ahead of Evans who would place 4th with 10.78. Evans, who is committed to play football at Georgia, would eventually get runner up in Division II Class AA with a 10.55, the fastest overall returning time in the 100m dash.
