All Areas Of Tennessee Find Success At TMSAA XC State Meet


Curtis Todd of Unicoi County won the Class A individual title with a time of 11:50. It was one second better than his personal best and just the second time under the twelve minute mark for two miles.

CLARKSVILLE - A warm day at Weakley Park yielded fast times and impressive team performances at Saturday's TMSAA state cross country championships and by the time the meet wrapped, hardware was headed to every corner of Tennessee. 

Class A Girls

Lake Road Elementary, a school in Obion County in the Upper West Corner of Tennessee, started the day off strong sweeping both the individual and team titles. 8th grader Ainsley Sadler went back to back defending her individual title won in 2022 by covering the 2-mile course in 13:15.66 and teammate Brylee Patrick was not far behind, finishing as runner-up (13:28.48).


The two Lake Road front runners put on a show for the spectators, but the race for the team title was tight. Lake Road won with 68 points as runner-up Rogersville City, from the opposite end of the state, tallied 75 points. 

The scoring for Lake Road was rounded out by Avery Coffey (sixth, 13;46.56), Lily Tuscan (25th, 14:36.20) and Carley Black (41st, 15:21.01). 

Rogersville City was led by Lilla Harrell (eighth, 13:46.80) and Anna Mae Boyd (ninth, 14:04.53).

Class A Boys

In the Class A boys, Unicoi County's Curtis Todd won a thrilling race over fellow East Tennessee runner Nathan Stevens from Lamar. Todd and Stevens hung back from the leaders for the first mile but maintained contact to overtake them by the finish. Todd ultimately pulled away to win in 11:50.05. Stevens finished in 11:53.33.


Todd had finished 8th in 2022. 

On the team side, Central Magnet out of Murfreesboro, won a close battle with 116 points, beating out Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts by three (119). 

Central Magnet was led by Zack Dial's third-place showing (11:54.90).


The pack of Tigers that followed (Phillip Smith (33rd, 13:05.73), Lucas Ye (38th, 13:11.01), Alexander Long (39th, 13:11.07) and Max Metzger (50th, 13:24.35)) helped eek out the victory over the blue and white jerseys from CSLA.
