Dunning, Clemons Notch Victories At Adidas Track Nationals

Dunning Sweeps Sprints Again

Last year, Danielle Dunning won both the 60m and 200m events at the Adidas Track Nationals in the Freshman Divisions. This year she moved up to the National Elite level and came away with the same results. The Brainerd sophomore won the 200m dash (above) with a 24.65, just .02 off her indoor best and the 60m dash with a 7.58. Her best time for the competition was in prelims at 7.55. Dunning is the defending 100m dash State Champion for Division I Class A and returns as the #1 sprinter overall in both the 100m and 200m distances. Last year, she didn't debut outdoor until CCS FastBreak which occurs this season on April 15th. I suspect she's on a similar timeline this season as well.

Clemons Wins Freshman Mile

Last week, Owen Clemons raced the Mile at New Balance Nationals Indoors. Based on his social media posts, he left disappointed. Not many athletes who raced in the Northeast entered into Adidas but Clemons did and won the Freshman Mile (above) in 4:21.44. He also, for the first time, race an open 400m where he placed 4th in the freshman division with a 52 and change. Not sure what to expect for his outdoor timeline since this is his first high school season early to Mid-April also appears to be around when he started ramping up entries last year as well.
